Hello Readers,
It’s summertime! YAAAAY! That irresistible combination of longer days and outdoor activities is so good even couch potatoes get up and go outside to be lazy. Actually, even if you have to work, summertime is a fun time, so make the most of yours.

Book News
I usually leave this topic for near the end of the newsletter, but not this time! That’s because my book, The Social Studies Helper, is published this month. If you haven’t checked it out yet, just click on its title under “Selected Works” and read about it. Of course, I hope the synopsis whets your appetite for buying it, but either way, let me know what you think!
Next month, I hope to let you know about an upcoming book signing. Stay
tuned . . .
Christian Living
Have you ever tried to create the perfect life? You know, the perfect décor and perfect meals and . . . perfect children? Striving for our own standards of perfection can be exhausting, particularly if our standards aren’t even part of God’s will for our individual lives.
After you read this month’s Christian Living article, “Understanding Martha,” maybe you’ll want to sit more and strive less. Maybe! Let me know.
Education
Did you know that an educational program of behavior modification has proven the old adage true: you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar? Teachers, take note! Also, I wonder whether you’ve heard about a terrifically innovative reading program that has made a significant difference for elementary students. If not, you might want to find out about it quickly, as its existence is in peril. And do you remember when integrating schools was an important educational focus? Then why is it that many schools remain segregated — and furthermore, within schools, gifted classes, in particular?
In May, our blog discussions covered these topics. If you find even one of them intriguing, then stop by each week as we discuss new educational issues. And please join the conversation.
And, by the way, my latest education article offers tips for parents at that most difficult of times: raising teenagers. You’ll find the link on the blog page with my other education articles. And hang in there, parents, this too shall pass!
Your Comments
I’ll never know what you enjoy or dislike or even what you wish I would include, unless you tell me. So, leave comments on the blog and/or the article page. Or go to the “Contact” page of the web site and send me an e-mail. Regardless of your opinion’s content, I want to hear it!
